How To Build … I think there is a bard build that could work, but between attacking, casting, flourishing, and off hand attacking, I think it is ultimately trying to do too much at once. If you have a mind for good combat positioning and hunger for tactical combat, the swashbuckler is a character that will satiate your desires. We have tons of AC, but if we get hit by a ton of damage we don’t have anything in terms of mitigation. Oh, and at Bard3 you also get two more Expertise, making you not only a “skill monkey” that can do everything better than most, you are also able to more than hold your own on the battlefield. Evasion is another survivability feature that rogues get, however, this one doesn’t require anything out of our action economy to use. You only get this once per short or long rest. Or if they’re further than 10 ft. away from you, but considering how fast we can move you can thoroughly sweep a room pretty quickly to locate a hidden creature. So I dug around in the Unearthed Arcana section and found the College of Swords which has TWF and some maneuver-esque things that use the Bardic Inspiration die, and it opens my character up to spellcasting which I would mainly use to get advantage rolls. You also sacrifice Elusive to get a Bards Collage. It’s by far the leading factor into why I frequently wind-up multi-classing into rogue whenever I play a DEX-based martial class. You’ll also learn secret signs and symbols that you can use to mark locations. Swashbuckling Bard Build. This looks like a good build, but I’ve noticed one little tweak you can make. The second perk of Rakish Audacity is that you can use Sneak Attack against a creature if you are within 5 ft. of them when you attack them, and as long as there are no other creatures within 5 feet of you. Then spend the rest with rogue. Mediocre HP wouldn’t be a problem for most rogues, but we’re playing a swashbuckler which with the Panache feature at level 9 is able to essentially taunt an enemy. Can I contribute? Really, all we want here is the shield proficiency. It's worth noting your suggested build requires you to be in BG2 before you'd ever multi-class. (You can choose whatever background you want since you can swap the skill proficiencies). The only issue is it that it seems I'm really at a loss for actions since I have so many spells and attacks. For 95% of this build, we’ll be going rogue. It will limit your spell selection a bit, but you can still get something useful like Expeditious Retreat to get even more mobile when you need it.
